...A FLOOD WARNING FOR RAPID SNOW MELT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115
PM AKDT FRIDAY FOR FOR THE PORCUPINE RIVER NEAR FORT YUKON...

AT 443 PM AKDT...WATER LEVELS HAVE RISEN ABOUT 5 INCHES SINCE NOON
TODAY AND ARE EXPECT TO SLOWLY RISE THROUGH FRIDAY. THE PORCUPINE
RIVER AT FORT YUKON IS OVERBANK IN THE VICINITY OF SUCKER RIVER ROAD
LANDING. LOW LYING AREAS ARE BECOMING INUNDATED WITH WATER FROM THE
PORCUPINE RIVER OVERFLOW.

WATER IS SLOWLY STARTING TO FLOOD THE WOODED AREAS AT THE LOW END OF
FORT YUKON AND THE AREA WILL TO CONTINUE TO FILL AS THE RIVER RISES.

THE RIVER HAS NOT CRESTED IN THE AREA AND FLOW CONTINUES TO INCREASE
AS WATER FROM OTHER TRIBUTARIES MAKES ITS WAY INTO THE RIVER. THIS
IS INCREASING THE PROBABILITY THAT THE PORCUPINE RIVER COULD REACH
LEVELS THAT WILL IMPACT HOUSES AND OTHER BUILDINGS IN FORT YUKON.

RIVER GAUGES UPSTREAM INDICATE THAT THE PORCUPINE RIVER LEVEL IS
STARTING TO FALL AFTER ALMOST 6 DAYS OF HIGH WATER. THIS INDICATES
THAT IT WILL STILL BE SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE WATER LEVELS BEGIN TO FALL
SIGNIFICANTLY IN FORT YUKON.
