FLOOD STATEMENT

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers
and Wildcat Creek in Indiana (cancelled for Youngs Creek)...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...Wildcat Creek...Youngs Creek...



.Lowland flooding will expand this week in western and southern
Indiana. Rainfall of one-half to over an inch on Monday night
will cause higher river levels and additional lowland flooding
along the Wabash and White Rivers.

At this time significant flooding is not anticipated. High water
will continue to affect low fallow agricultural fields, river
parks and possibly a few local roads. Flooding will persist all
this week and extend into the week of January 22 in southwest
Indiana.

Precipitation totals of 1 to nearly 3 inches have fallen in
central and southern Indiana since January 10. Additional rain is
expected in southern Indiana on Thursday night.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING TO FRIDAY EVENING.
* At 9:45 PM Tuesday the stage was 10.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
  continue to rise to near 13.2 feet by Thursday morning. The river
  will fall below flood stage by Friday morning.
* At 13.5 feet...Lowland flood continues. Jackson County Road 700 E
  begins to flood.

* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 18.1
  feet tomorrow morning.
* At 18.0 feet...Floods area in a few low spots and woodland areas
  along the river.  Residential property is not directly at this
  point.

  The White River at Spencer.
* FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
* At 10:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 11.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow early afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 15.0 feet by early Friday morning.  The
  river will fall below flood stage by early Saturday morning.
* At 15.5 feet...Gosport Road, also known as County Line Road in Owen
  County, begins to flood on north side of river.  Romona Road west
  of Gosport begins to flood.  Flooding of low agricultural land is
  noticeable.

* At 8:00 AM Tuesday the stage was 17.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
  continue to rise to near 19.7 feet by Thursday early afternoon.
  The river will fall below flood stage by Saturday before midnight.
* At 20.0 feet...River Road north of CR 150 W in Greene County is
  flooded. Low agricultural fields flood.

* At 10:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 12.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late evening and
  continue to rise to near 13.8 feet by Thursday evening. The river
  will fall below flood stage by Saturday morning.
* At 13.5 feet...High water may affect CR 550 S in the Mary Long
  Cutoff area.

  The White River at Edwardsport.
* UNTIL MONDAY EVENING.
* At 7:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 17.4 feet by
  Friday evening. The river will fall below flood stage late Monday
  morning.
* At 17.5 feet...Flooding closes Old Vincennes Road. High water
  crosses SR 358 on the Daviess County side just west of the levee.
  Flooding begins to affect higher bottomlands. Residential property
  of river cabins begins to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The White River at Petersburg.
* UNTIL Wednesday January 25.
* At 10:30 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.3 feet by
  early Monday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
  afternoon.
* At 18.0 feet...Lowland flooding begins to flood several Pike County
  roads. Many of the following county roads begin to flood around
  this level...east of SR 57 include CR 750N...CR 600N and CR 1000E.
  Pike county road subject to flooding west of SR 57 include...CR 250
  W...CR 400W...CR 675N...CR 700 N...CR  1000w...CR 900W...CR 700W
  and CR 775W.

* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 19.1
  feet Monday morning.
* At 19.0 feet...Flood waters cover the Hazleton softball field.
  Pottsville Road is underwater and impassable.

* UNTIL SATURDAY EVENING.
* At 10:31 PM Tuesday the stage was 12.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.3 feet by
  tomorrow early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  late Saturday morning.
* At 14.0 feet...Lowland flooding is in progress.  High water affects
  river cabins near North 9th Street.  Low county roads are nearly
  impassable.  Tapawingo Park in West Lafayette begins to flood.

* UNTIL SUNDAY MORNING.
* At 9:45 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.7 feet by
  early Thursday morning. The river will fall below flood stage
  Saturday before midnight.
* At 18.0 feet...Five Crossings, a local county river park at old U.S.
  Highway 136 bridge site, begins to flood.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.1 feet by
  Thursday evening. The river will fall below flood stage early
  Monday morning.
* At 18.0 feet...Montezuma agricultural levee is overtopped. Fourteen
  hundred acres of low bottomlands flood.

* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 16.4 feet by
  Saturday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage
  Monday afternoon.
* At 16.0 feet...Flooding of rural roads is in progress behind Honey
  Creek Levee as a result of two unrepaired levee breaks.

  The Wabash River at Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site.
* UNTIL Wednesday January 25.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 18.7
  feet Sunday evening.
* At 18.0 feet...Seep water occurs behind levees on Indiana side.
  Hutson Creek begins to overflow from backwater. Old Darwin Road
  and a few rural roads in eastern Clark and Crawford counties in
  Illinois are impassable.  Low agricultural land floods.

* At 10:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 17.4 feet by
  Monday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Wednesday
  morning.
* At 18.0 feet...Extensive lowland flooding is in progress. High
  water surrounds many river cabins. Access to most river cabins is
  by boat only. Levees begin to protect farmland.  Extensive
  flooding of Leaverton Park occurs in Palestine, Illinois.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wabash River at Mount Carmel.
* FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT TO Thursday January 26.
* At 9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 16.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and
  continue to rise to near 19.5 feet by Tuesday morning. The river
  will fall below flood stage by Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 20.0 feet...River is bankfull in all locations. All oil field
  production ceases with the exception of pumping units on
  substructures. Access to these are by boat only. Agricultural
  losses increase dramatically.  Farmers move livestock to higher
  ground. City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year
  round.

* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and
  continue to rise to near 10.1 feet by after midnight tomorrow. The
  river will fall below flood stage by early tomorrow.
* At 10.0 feet...Flooding of lowland areas in progress in portions of
  Tippecanoe County.

* At 10:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 6.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river crested below flood stage at 7.0 feet. The
  river will fall to 3.8 feet by .
* At 7.0 feet...Youngs Creek at flood stage.  Most low areas along
  creek are flooded.   Approaches to CR 400S bridge over Youngs Creek
  begin to flood.
