Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
545 AM MDT Tue Oct 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Warm and very dry air aloft
remains over Colorado today, with moderate westerly flow. There
are strong, shallow inversions over most valley areas this
morning. Smoke dispersal will be poor in most areas until early
afternoon. Above the inversions it is very dry, with humidities
starting in the teens in many places this morning. Fortunately,
winds are expected to stay light today, with gusts over 20 mph
limited to areas above 8000 feet. Similar conditions are expected
tonight, though there may be a bit more wind over the mountain
ridges and the Front Range foothills. This will again produce poor
humidity recovery overnight, especially on the east slopes of the
Front Range.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday...
Dry and unseasonably warm weather will continue through
Friday. Surface high pressure will push a shallow dry
front into the northeast plains of Colorado Wednesday
morning. Brief gusty northerly winds can be expected
through midday followed by light easterly winds in the
afternoon. Gusty southerly winds will develop over the
northeast plains Thursday afternoon. The combination of
very warm temperatures, lower relative humidities with gusty
winds at times will keep the rangeland fire danger elevated
across the plains during the afternoon hours, especially
on Thursday. A Pacific storm system moving over the state
late Friday and Saturday will bring cooler temperatures
to the area and a chance of showers in the high country,
with a slight chance of showers over the northeast plains.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
