Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
300 PM EDT Fri Jul 21 2017

.DISCUSSION...A persistent trough of low pressure will help
trigger a few widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon.
Otherwise, high pressure will dominate the forecast area through
Saturday, with somewhat drier atmospheric conditions than we
have had during the past few days. A gradual return of moisture
will begin on Sunday.

Even though the pressure gradient will be weak enough for poor
dispersion from late this evening through early Saturday morning,
some weak low-level mixing will help inhibit any fog development.

Surface winds Saturday will be from the southwest around 5 mph
after daybreak, then increase to 5 to 10 mph by late morning.
Transport winds will be similar in direction with speeds around
10 mph for the afternoon. Relative humidities will drop to near
40 percent.
