FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
422 AM CDT THU APR 17 2014

.DISCUSSION...
A MODERATE SOUTHEASTERLY FLOW REGIME WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE
CENTRAL TENNESSEE VALLEY TODAY...AS A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE
CENTERED ACROSS NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND CONTINUES TO WEDGE AROUND
THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS. ASIDE FROM A FEW HIGH-LEVEL CLOUDS...
MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES ARE EXPECTED TODAY WITH TRANSPORT FLOW AROUND
15 MPH PROVIDING GOOD SMOKE DISPERSION. LOW-LEVEL CLOUDS WILL
BE ON THE INCREASE LATE TONIGHT AS AN UPPER-LEVEL DISTURBANCE
APPROACHES FROM THE WEST. A FEW PATCHES OF LIGHT RAIN WILL BE
ALSO POSSIBLE FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...BUT THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL REMAIN TO THE
SOUTH/EAST OF THE LOCAL AREA. THE COMBINATION OF CLOUDY SKIES
AND WEAKENING TRANSPORT WINDS WILL RESULT IN ONLY FAIR
DISPERSION TOMORROW.

CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD SOUTHWARD INTO THE REGION BY
SATURDAY MORNING...BRINGING A REINFORCING SHOT OF DRIER AIR TO THE
REGION THIS WEEKEND. HOWEVER...ANOTHER APPROACHING STORM SYSTEM
WILL BRING HIGHER CHANCES FOR SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS ONCE AGAIN
FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON-TUESDAY EVENING.
