FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
330 PM PDT SUN AUG 30 2015

...GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS THIS EVENING...

...LOW HUMIDITIES AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS THROUGH MID WEEK...

.DISCUSSION...ANOTHER NIGHT OF GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS THROUGH THE
SANTA YNEZ RANGE TONIGHT. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL AGAIN BE WEST OF
GOLETA, HOWEVER WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO EXPAND EAST INTO MONTECITO AND
POSSIBLY THE MATILIJA AREA IN WESTERN VENTURA COUNTY. HUMIDITIES
WILL DROP TO BETWEEN 20 AND 30 PERCENT FOR A FEW HOURS IN THE
EVENING BEFORE RECOVERING TO 40-60 PERCENT OVERNIGHT. WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE WEAKER MONDAY EVENING.

A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE ALONG THE WEST COAST THROUGH
THIS WEEK AND LIKELY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS WELL. THIS WILL BRING
COOLER TEMPERATURES TO MOST AREAS, WITH HIGHS DROPPING TO NEAR OR
BELOW SEASONAL NORMALS BY MONDAY OR TUESDAY. THE MARINE LAYER WILL
DEEPEN THROUGH THE WEEK WITH LOW CLOUDS PUSHING INTO THE VALLEYS
EACH NIGHT THIS WEEK. THIS WILL PROVIDE EXCELLENT HUMIDITY
RECOVERIES FOR LOWER ELEVATIONS. HOWEVER, AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS,
GENERALLY ABOVE 5000 FT, DRIER AIR IS EXPECTED TO MOVE IN BY MONDAY
AND REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH AT LEAST THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. DURING
THIS TIME HUMIDITIES WILL FALL TO AROUND 10 PERCENT OR BRIEFLY LOWER
WITH POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES. WHILE WIDESPREAD STRONG WINDS ARE
NOT EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME, THERE WILL BE LOCALLY GUSTY ONSHORE
BREEZES THROUGH THE CANYONS EACH AFTERNOON POSSIBLY GENERATING A FEW
HOURS OF ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS.
