FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN WASHINGTON AND NORTH IDAHO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
625 AM PDT SAT AUG 1 2015

.DISCUSSION...

...HOT...DRY AND UNSTABLE TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY...
...GUSTY WINDS WITH LOW HUMIDITIES LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
FOR THE KITTITAS VALLEY...

HOT...DRY AND UNSTABLE WEATHER WILL CONTINUE AS HIGH PRESSURE
REMAINS ALOFT. EXPECT SIMILAR CONDITIONS TODAY AS SEEN YESTERDAY
WITH JUST A COUPLE DEGREES OF COOLING. A THERMALLY INDUCED SURFACE
PRESSURE TROUGH LIES ACROSS THE COLUMBIA BASIN AND ENHANCED THE
GAP WINDS IN THE CASCADES OVERNIGHT. HUMIDITY RECOVERIES WERE POOR
IN MOST AREAS EXCEPT NEAR WATER BODIES...AND THIS TREND WILL BE
SEEN AGAIN TONIGHT. AFTERNOON HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL DROP INTO THE
SINGLE DIGITS TO MID TEENS WITH ONLY MINOR CHANGES FOR SUNDAY.
EXPECT MORE UNSTABLE CONDITIONS IN MOST AREAS TODAY AND SUNDAY
WITH WIDESPREAD HAINES INDICES AT A 5...WHICH MAY INCREASE
ACTIVITY ON CURRENT FIRES. THE CASCADE GAP WINDS WILL INCREASE
LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH SPEEDS OF 10 TO 15
MPH...ESPECIALLY IN THE KITTITAS VALLEY. ANTICIPATE LOCAL GUSTS
OF 20 MPH DUE TO DAYTIME MIXING. THE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE WILL
BREAK DOWN BY MONDAY WITH BREEZY WINDS...COOLER TEMPERATURES AND A
CHANCE OF MOUNTAIN THUNDERSTORMS. THE BETTER CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE SEEN TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO
RETURN TO MORE SEASONAL VALUES BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
