FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
303 PM PDT WED MAY 4 2016

...HIGH CASCADES THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...SHOWERS WILL BRIEFLY DECREASE THIS
AFTERNOON THEN INCREASE AGAIN THIS EVENING. STILL THUNDERSTORMS
STILL POSSIBLE FOR THE HIGH CASCADES. LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS SOUTH
OF THE REGION THURSDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SHOWERS DECREASE ON
THURSDAY WITH DRY WEATHER THEREAFTER...EXCEPT SOME WEAK SHOWERS
POSSIBLE FOR LANE COUNTY THROUGH SATURDAY.

.DISCUSSION...PLENTY OF SHOWERS ACTIVITY ALONG WITH EMBEDDED
THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING OVER NORCAL AND SOUTHERN OREGON AND
THE CASCADE EAST SLOPES. STILL FINDING THERE IS A SOMEWHAT MORE
STABLE ENVIRONMENT NORTH OF THE UMPQUA DIVIDE AND WEST OF THE
CASCADES. STILL EXPECT SOME SPOTTY WETTING RAINS BUT THUNDERSTORMS
SHOULD BE CONFINED MORE TO THE HIGH CASCADES, IF THEY OCCUR AT
ALL.

THE UPPER LOW PRESSURE WILL DIVE SOUTH THROUGH THURSDAY WITH HIGH
PRESSURE NOSING OVER THE TOP FROM THE PACIFIC TO BRING MILD AND
DRY WEATHER FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. SO FAR...IT DOES NOT APPEAR
LIKE WE WILL SEE A SIGNIFICANT THERMAL TROUGH DEVELOP NOR AN
OFFSHORE WIND EVENT TO REALLY SPIKE TEMPERATURES. BUT, SUBTLE
SHORT WAVES MAY WRAP AROUND THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LOW AND BRING
SOME WEAK INSTABILITY AND SHOWERS...MAINLY TO THE LANE COUNTY
CASCADES. /JBONK
