Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
700 AM CDT Mon Apr 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Surface high pressure anchored over the region this morning will gradually
shift east into Eastern Arkansas and Northeast Louisiana this afternoon, with
light and variable 20ft winds this morning becoming south around 5 mph this
afternoon across East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, extreme Southwest Arkansas,
and Western Louisiana. The dry air mass will remain in place for one more day,
with Min RH`s falling to around 30% this afternoon. South winds will gradually
increase tonight especially across East Texas, and areawide Tuesday, as the
pressure gradient tightens significantly across the Southern Plains. South
winds of 15-25 mph with gusts to 30-35 mph, especially over East Texas and
Southeast Oklahoma, can be expected Tuesday, with RH`s modifying to 45-50%. An
upper level disturbance and associated cold front will begin to amplify over
the Southern Plains Wednesday, with scattered to numerous showers and
thunderstorms increasing areawide by afternoon. Some of these storms may become
severe, with damaging winds, large hail, and even an isolated tornado possible.
These storms will diminish from west to east Wednesday evening, with slightly
cooler but drier air filtering into the region Thursday. However, the
aforementioned frontal system will begin to lift back north as a warm front
Thursday night and Friday, returning much warmer and more humid conditions
back into the area. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will
return across portions of extreme Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and
Southwest Arkansas Friday afternoon and night near the warm front, with
showers and thunderstorms expected to increase Saturday night and Sunday
areawide ahead of the next upper level storm system and associated cold front
to affect the region.
