...A SIGNIFICANT LACK OF SNOW ACROSS THE AREA THIS PAST SEASON...

It was a disappointing season for many snow lovers across the
region. Many of our climate sites ended the season in the top 10
least snowiest, including Charleston, Parkersburg, and Clarksburg.
The remaining sites Elkins, Beckley, and Huntington were well
below normal though not in the top 10. Of course the snow
season is not tied just to the winter months. Our snow season
incorporates the months of October through May.

Below is a summary of top 10 finishes for the 2016-2017 season.

Charleston: 7.5 inches is the 9th least snowiest season on
record. Of note this is also the least snowiest since 1951-1952.

Parkersburg: 4.6 inches is the 4th least snowiest season on
record.

Clarksburg: 8 inches is the 6th least snowiest season on record.

Though not one of our official climate sites, Snowshoe
experienced their 7th least snowiest season on record with 94.5
inches.
