WASHINGTON PRECIPITATION SUMMARY

FOR THE FIRST MONTH OF 2016...JANUARY WAS NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL FOR
MUCH OF WASHINGTON STATE. THE EXCEPTIONS WERE THE NORTHWEST INTERIOR
AND THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE CASCADES...WHICH ENDED THE MONTH WITH
BELOW NORMAL VALUES. THE WATER YEAR VALUES WERE NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL
FOR THE ENTIRE STATE.

IN WESTERN WASHINGTON...THE MONTHLY PERCENTAGE OF NORMAL FOR
PRECIPITATION RANGED FROM 79 PERCENT IN THE NORTHWEST INTERIOR TO
127 PERCENT IN THE PUGET SOUND LOWLANDS. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF
PRECIPITATION AT THE CLIMATE STATIONS FOR THE
MOUNTAINS...COAST...AND INTERIOR LOWLANDS WAS 21.66 INCHES AT THE
HOH RANGER STATION IN THE OLYMPICS...17.15 AT ABERDEEN...AND 17.58
INCHES AT GRAYS RIVER IN THE SOUTHWEST INTERIOR.

FOR EASTERN WASHINGTON...THE PERCENTAGE OF NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION
RANGED FROM 98 PERCENT IN THE PALOUSE AND BLUE MOUNTAINS TO 167
PERCENT IN THE CENTRAL BASIN. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION
AT CLIMATE STATIONS FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND LOWLANDS WAS 10.10 INCHES
AT MOUNT ADAMS RANGER STATION ON THE EASTERN SLOPES OF THE
CASCADES...AND 3.71 INCHES AT NEWPORT IN THE NORTHEAST REGION.

THE OUTLOOK FOR FEBRUARY AND BEYOND...FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS THE
OUTLOOK IS FOR ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR WASHINGTON STATE. THE
MONTHLY OUTLOOK FOR FEBRUARY...AS WELL AS THE THREE MONTH OUTLOOK
FOR FEBRUARY THROUGH APRIL...ARE CALLING FOR BELOW
NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE ENTIRE STATE.

FOR REGIONS OF WASHINGTON.  THE CURRENT WATER YEAR BEGAN 1 OCTOBER
