.DISCUSSION...
Periods of rain and/or thunderstorms are expected today through
Sunday night, producing widespread rainfall amounts over an inch
over the next 72 hours. Localized areas of rainfall exceeding 2
inches is possible, especially across northwest Iowa and nearby
locations where thunderstorms are more likely.

The week ahead should allow for some drying, though still a bit
unsettled with a couple of chances for scattered showers/storms.
The rain/clouds will keep temperatures on the cooler side with
minimum humidity levels remaining above 50% through the weekend.
Seasonal temperatures and lower afternoon humidity levels in the
35-40% range look to return mid-late week.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
