SUNSHINE AND STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WERE SPREADING EASTWARD ACROSS
SOUTH DAKOTA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...REPLACING THE CLOUDS AND
LIGHT RAIN IN THE NORTHEAST LATE THIS MORNING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
AMOUNTS WERE ONLY A FEW HUNDRETHS OF AN INCH AT BEST. AS THE
STRONGER NORTHWEST WINDS AT 20 TO 35 MPH ARRIVED...THE AIR BECAME
MUCH DRIER...DROPPING THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY TO LESS THAN 30 PERCENT
AT MANY LOCATIONS. THERE WERE ALSO GUSTS OF 35 TO 45 MPH. AS THE LOW
PRESSURE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIVITY TODAY WAS SPINNING TOWARD WEST
CENTRAL MINNESOTA...EVENING TEMPERATURES IN SOUTH DAKOTA WERE NOT
FALLING MUCH...HOLDING IN THE 50S TO LOW 60S AT MOST PLACES THROUGH
8 PM CDT.

HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE MAJORITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA TODAY WERE IN
THE UPPER 50S TO AROUND 70. ONE OF THE WARMEST TOWNS THIS AFTERNOON
WAS MITCHELL...REACHING 71 DEGREES. CHAMBERLAIN...HURON...WINNER...
AND YANKTON WERE ALL CLOSE BEHIND...WITH 70. TWO OF THE COOLER
PLACES WERE SISSETON...ONLY MAKING IT TO 56 DEGREES...AND CUSTER IN
THE BLACK HILLS...STRUGGLING UP TO 58.

AT 8 PM CDT / 7 PM MDT...THE WESTERN HALF OF SOUTH DAKOTA WAS MOSTLY
CLOUDY TO CLOUDY...WHILE THE EAST WAS CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY.
TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE UPPER 40S TO MID 50S IN THE NORTHEAST...
WHILE THE REST OF THE STATE WAS IN THE MID 50S TO LOW 60S. EXTREMES
ON THE HOUR RANGED FROM 49 DEGREES AT SISSETON...TO 63 AT PINE
RIDGE...WINNER...CHAMBERLAIN...MITCHELL...AND YANKTON. WINDS ACROSS
THE WESTERN THIRD OF SOUTH DAKOTA VARIED FROM NORTHWEST TO NORTHEAST
AT 3 TO 14 MPH. MEANWHILE...MOST OF THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN THIRDS
OF THE STATE HAD NORTHWEST WINDS AT 10 TO 16 MPH. HOWEVER...THE
SISSETON AND WATERTOWN VICINITIES HAD LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS
BETWEEN EAST AND SOUTH AT 6 MPH OR LESS.
