...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

THE AREAS AFFECTED INCLUDE...
  NEARSHORE AND OPEN WATERS FROM ST JOSEPH TO GRAND HAVEN MI...

AT 944 PM EDT...A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A
LINE EXTENDING FROM 53 NM WEST OF MILWAUKEE TO 27 NM WEST OF
PLEASANT PRAIRIE TO 63 NM SOUTHWEST OF WINTHROP HARBOR...MOVING EAST
AT 50 KNOTS.

THESE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DIMINISH SOME AS THEY APPROACH THE
AREA. THEY COULD STILL HAVE HAZARDOUS WINDS AS THEY APPROACH THE
WATERS AFTER 11 PM, AND THE SHORELINE TOWARD MIDNIGHT.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
THE ST. JOSEPH LIGHT...THE HOLLAND LIGHT...THE SAUGATUCK PIERHEADS...
THE SOUTH HAVEN LIGHT AND ST. JOSEPH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MARINERS CAN EXPECT GUSTY WINDS...LOCALLY HIGHER WAVES...AND
LIGHTNING STRIKES. BOATERS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOR IMMEDIATELY UNTIL
THESE STORMS PASS.

THESE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 34
KNOTS...AND IS LIKELY TO POSE A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR BOATERS. A SPECIAL
MARINE WARNING WILL LIKELY BE REQUIRED WHEN THESE STORMS REACH THE
NEARSHORE WATERS. BOATERS SHOULD CONSIDER HEADING FOR SHORE BEFORE
THESE STORMS ARRIVE.

INTENSE LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THESE STORMS. IF CAUGHT ON THE
OPEN WATER STAY BELOW DECK IF POSSIBLE...KEEP AWAY FROM UNGROUNDED
METAL OBJECTS.
