...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks: Sycamore Creek at Holt...Maple River
at Maple Rapids...
.High pressure continues to bring dry and mostly sunny conditions to
Southwest Lower Michigan today. As high pressure slides east
tonight, it will give way to more unsettled weather through Friday.
Rain is expected to develop and overspread much of the area,
resulting in general rainfall totals of 0.75-1.50 inches. Along with
snowmelt, this will provide within bank rises on streams and rivers,
some of which could approach bankfull in areas hit hardest by the
recent winter storm...mainly Jackson Co. Forecast will continued to
be monitored for any variation.The following forecast is based on
observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.
For the Sycamore Creek At Holt... the latest stage was 3.1 feet at 10
AM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 6.8 feet Friday evening. Flood stage is 8.0 feet. At
6.0 feet... Flooding begins in low lying areas along the creek and at
the Lansing Municipal Golf Course and Scott Woods Park..
For the Maple River At Maple Rapids... the latest stage was 3.2 feet
at 10 AM Wednesday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 7.5 feet Sunday early afternoon. Flood stage is 9.0
feet. At 7.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect minor flooding in low
lying pastures, farmland, and wooded areas adjacent to the river..
