HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND RAPIDS MI
936 PM EDT THU MAR 12 2015

...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks: Grand River at Comstock Park...Red
Cedar at Williamston...East Lansing...
.Rivers and streams continue to rise from snow melt. Highs in the
mid 50s on Friday and possibly 60 on Monday will mean the snowpack
will be gone for most locations by Monday. Fortunately...dry
weather is forecast to persist. Some breakup of the ice was noted
along the Grand River near Abrigador Trail in Comstock Park on
Thursday evening...although the ice was not yet moving downstream. As
the crest heads downstream into next week...the potential for ice
jamming increases... resulting in higher river levels upstream of
any ice jam. The following forecast is based on observed and forecast
24 hour precipitation.

For the Grand River Near Comstock Park... the latest stage was 8.9
feet at 5 PM Thursday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 11.3 feet early Monday morning. Flood stage is 12.0
feet. At 11.0 feet... River is bankfull.

For the Red Cedar River Above Williamston... the latest stage was 5.6
feet at 9 PM Thursday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 7.2 feet Sunday morning. Flood stage is 9.0 feet. At
7.0 feet... River is bankfull. Overflow begins in low lying areas
adjacent to the river.

For the Red Cedar River At East Lansing... the latest stage was 4.7
feet at 9 PM Thursday. No flooding is forecast. The maximum stage
forecasted is 6.2 feet Sunday morning. Flood stage is 7.0 feet. At
6.0 feet... River reaches bankfull and low lying areas flood.

Safety message...Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
