.Area rivers continue to show the effects of rapid snowmelt and
runoff. Advisories continue at Maple Rapids and Ionia. Flooding of
low areas near rivers is expected. Significant flooding is not
expected. Another quarter inch of precipitation is expected over the
region through Friday, which could produce minor secondary rises or
slower recessions. The following forecast is based on observed and
forecast 48 hour precipitation.
For the Grand River Near Comstock Park... the latest stage was 10.2
feet at 9 AM Thursday. No flooding is forecast. The river has fallen
0.5 feet in the past 24 hours. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. At 11.0
feet... River is bankfull.
For the Sycamore Creek At Holt... the latest stage was 7.1 feet at 11
AM Tuesday. No flooding is forecast. The river has fallen 0.3 feet
in the past 24 hours. Flood stage is 8.0 feet. At 8.0 feet...
Expect minor flooding of low lying areas adjacent to the river, in
the Lansing Municipal Golf Course and sections of East Mt. Hope
For the Thornapple River Above Hastings... the latest stage was 4.9
feet at 10 AM Thursday. No flooding is forecast. The river has
risen 0.2 feet in the past 24 hours. Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
