.KEY MESSAGES...
1. Strong, gusty northwest winds will persist in the Mojave
Desert Slopes today and Tuesday.

2. A warming trend is expected today through Sunday.

3. By Sunday afternoon, high temperatures throughout Central
California will be around ten degrees above normal for this time
of year.

4. Dry weather will persist for the next several days.

.DISCUSSION...
Broad cyclone flow aloft will prevail today and Tuesday. Strong,
gusty northwest winds are expected in the Mojave Desert Slopes
today and Tuesday. There is an 81 percent chance of wind gusts
of 45 mph or higher in Mojave this morning. There is a 97
percent chance of wind gusts of 45 mph or higher in Mojave
Tuesday evening. As soon as the current Wind Advisory expires or
can be cancelled early, a new Wind Advisory will be issued for
the time period from 5 PM PDT this afternoon until 11 PM PDT
Tuesday evening.

An upper-level area of low pressure over the North Central
United States will retrograde westward Wednesday. This cyclone
aloft will settle over the Great Basin Thursday, before opening
up into a trough of low pressure Friday. The trough of low
pressure will progress eastward Saturday. Thunderstorm
probabilities have decreased along the Sierra Nevada crest
Thursday into Saturday.

A ridge of high pressure will be centered over the Golden State
Sunday. A warming trend is anticipated today through Sunday. By
Sunday afternoon, high temperatures across Central California
will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year.
