Spot Forecast for Lake LeVasseur Rx Burn...MI DNR
National Weather Service Marquette MI
836 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024

Forecast is based on ignition time of 1100 EDT on April 25.
If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather
Service.

.DISCUSSION...Sunny skies will prevail today, and with high pressure
slipping east of the area, light southerly winds are expected through
at least the beginning of the burn. However, with these winds being
light and given the close proximity of the burn site to Lake
Superior, there is the potential for a lake breeze to reach the site
this afternoon. If the lake breeze does push onshore, it would occur
between 1 PM and 5 PM, resulting in a wind shift to the east to
possibly northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Late in the day, around 6 PM, the
Lake Michigan lake breeze should pass, bringing a temporary
increase in south-southeast winds to around 10 mph with gusts up to
15 mph. If the Lake Superior lake breeze reaches the burn site,
temperatures could fall back 5 degrees or so from what is indicated
in the forecast below with relative humidity making a corresponding
increase. Southeast to south winds will prevail tonight at around 10
mph with RH recovery to around 77 percent. Southerly winds gusting up
to around 25 mph are expected on Friday with minimum RH just under
40 percent. Showers will arrive Friday night.
