WASHINGTON DC...RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT...

THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL...AND RANKED
AS THE 11TH WARMEST OCTOBER ON RECORD. MONTHLY PRECIPITATION WAS
WELL BELOW NORMAL...AND RANKED AS THE 19TH DRIEST OCTOBER ON RECORD.

THE STRETCH OF ABNORMAL WARMTH FROM THE 17TH THROUGH THE 21ST RANKED
AS THE WARMEST 5 DAY PERIOD DURING THE SECOND HALF OF OCTOBER ON
RECORD.

TWO DAILY WARM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET LAST MONTH. THE LOW
OF 65 DEGREES ON THE 19TH TIED THE RECORD PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1905.
THE LOW OF 68 DEGREES ON THE 20TH BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 64 SET IN
1885 AND 1877.

CLIMATE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT AT RONALD REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT
SINCE AUGUST OF 1941. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE
WASHINGTON DC AREA EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1872. PRECIPITATION
RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1871. SNOWFALL RECORDS BEGAN IN
JULY OF 1884.
