Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Interior Alaska
National Weather Service Fairbanks AK
329 PM AKDT Sun May 28 2017

.DISCUSSION...Ridge of high pressure will continue to build west
from western Canada and over Interior Alaska through the middle of
this week. This will allow for a gradual rise in temperatures and
additional drying of fuels. Minimum RH values will drop into the
20s to lower 30s over much of the eastern and central interior.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the central Interior north to
the south facing slopes of the Brooks Range Monday afternoon and evening.

Gap winds will persist near Alaska Range passes and will be gusty again
Monday afternoon. Expect minimum RH values near red flag criteria in the
vicinity of Alaska Range passes, however, sustained winds are not expected to
meet red flag criteria today, but will likely flirt with criteria in these
areas Monday afternoon.

Areas away from the Alaska Range with Red Flag temperature criteria will
need to be closely monitored beginning Tuesday and continuing through the
week as temperatures rise into the low to mid 70s, and minimum RH well as
wind criteria will also be close to meeting Red Flag criteria.
