Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
228 PM MST Mon Feb 20 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 6 PM MST TUESDAY for the
front range foothills below 7500 feet and northeast plains...

.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Tuesday...have upgraded the fire
weather watch to the red flag warning for the front range foothills
below 7500 feet and northeast plains from 1100 to 1800 tuesday
including fire weather zones 215..216 and 238>251. a moderate
west to southwesterly flow will be spreads over the region. The models
do generate a weak mountain wave overnight which will allow for
gusty winds to develop overnight and with poor relative humidity
recovery as well in those windy areas. downslope winds will help
to warm the front range up on tuesday. Temperatures will approach
or possibly break the record the the date in Denver. The
combination of gusty winds, low relative humidities and dry/dormant
fuels will produce a high fire danger across the region through
the afternoon.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Tuesday night through Saturday...
It will be mild and breezy Wednesday. A cold front will drop south
across eastern Colorado Wednesday bringing cooler air. The weather
pattern shifts on Thursday. An upper level low will bring cooler
temperatures and snow to the area Thursday. The best chance for snow
will be over the northern part of the state. The cool conditions
will continue through the weekend.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
