FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
309 AM EDT TUE MAY 31 2016

...LARGE-SCALE DRYING THROUGH THURSDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
LARGE-SCALE DRYING WILL GENERALLY OCCUR TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY AS
HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS ACROSS THE REGION. OUTSIDE A STRAY NORTHERN
MOUNTAIN SPRINKLE OR LIGHT SHOWER THIS AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING
NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED DURING THIS PERIOD. BOUNDARY LAYER
MIXING WILL FOSTER MODESTLY GUSTY WEST TO NORTHWESTERLY WINDS TO 20
MPH TODAY WHICH WILL AID IN DRYING FINE DEAD FUELS IN LINGERING
HIGHER ELEVATION LOCALES YET TO EXPERIENCE FULL GREEN-UP. AFTERNOON
MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES TODAY AND ON WEDNESDAY WILL GENERALLY
AVERAGE IN THE 25 TO 35 PERCENT RANGE WITH GOOD RECOVERY INTO
THE OVERNIGHT AND EARLY MORNING HOURS. THERE IS INCREASING CONFIDENCE
THAT A TREND TOWARD SHOWERY MORE INCLEMENT WEATHER WILL RETURN BY
THIS COMING FRIDAY, AND AGAIN FROM SUNDAY ONWARD INTO EARLY
NEXT WEEK AS A SERIES OF DISTURBANCES AND ASSOCIATED FRONTAL
BOUNDARIES PUSH INTO THE REGION.
