Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Northern Vermont and
Northern New York
National Weather Service Burlington VT
543 AM EDT Fri Aug 18 2017

...Showers This Morning And Then Again Late In The Day...

.DISCUSSION...
The first wave of showers and isolated thunderstorms was moving
across northern New York early this morning and this activity will
move across Vermont during the morning hours before exiting to the
east around midday. Rainfall amounts from this activity will range
from a tenth to a third of an inch. A brief lull in precipitation
is expected early this afternoon with some sunshine developing
over northern New York. Dew points will also be rising through the
60s and thus afternoon relative humidities will be on the high
side with readings in the 65 to 75 percent range. By late in the
day scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to
redevelop over the northern Adirondacks and Champlain Valley and
move east across the remainder of Vermont tonight. Any of these
showers and storms will have the potential to produce brief heavy
downpours and possibly some gusty winds. Some locations will be
able to quickly pick up a half inch of rain with any of the
downpours. Drier weather moves in for Saturday with afternoon
relative humidities about 20 percent lower than on Friday.
However...the potential for some showers will exist in the
afternoon and nighttime hours as a trough of low pressure moves
into the region. The drying trend continues on Sunday and
especially Monday.
