FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN KENTUCKY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSON KY
534 AM EDT WED OCT 22 2014

.DISCUSSION...A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CURRENTLY LOCATED DUE EAST OF
KENTUCKY...ALONG/JUST OFF OF THE ATLANTIC COASTLINE...WILL SLOWLY
BEGIN IT/S TREK NORTHWARD ALONG THE COASTLINE DURING THE DAY TODAY.
EASTERN KY WILL FIND ITSELF IN A TRANSITION ZONE...CAUGHT BETWEEN
THE INFLUENCE OF THIS EXITING SYSTEM AND INCOMING HIGH PRESSURE.
NORTHERLY WINDS WILL REMAIN INTACT THROUGH TODAY PULLING MUCH COOLER
CANADIAN AIR INTO THE REGION. ALTHOUGH THESE WINDS WILL BE FAIRLY
LIGHT NEAR THE SURFACE...THE STRONG PRESSURE GRADIENT PASSING OVER
THE REGION WILL LEAD TO STRONGER WINDS IN THE MID AND UPPER LEVELS OF
THE ATMOSPHERE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. BY TONIGHT...AS THE LOW
CONTINUES TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE REGION AND HIGH PRESSURE TAKES
HOLD...WINDS SHOULD SETTLE DOWN...AND CLEARING IS EXPECTED TO ENSUE
ACROSS THE REGION. OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES ARE LIKELY TO BE WELL
BELOW NORMAL...AND SOME OF THE COOLEST SO FAR THIS SEASON. IN
ADDITION TO FOG DEVELOPMENT...THIS COULD BE A GOOD SHOT FOR MANY
LOCATIONS TO SEE FROST DEVELOPMENT. HIGH PRESSURE SHOULD KEEP
CONDITIONS RATHER MILD AND CALM THURSDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND.
