Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
126 PM PDT Tue Aug 15 2017

...Gusty onshore winds across the mountains and Antelope Valley
through Wednesday, especially Highway 14 corridor...

.DISCUSSION...
An unusually strong upper level trough for August is bringing
strong onshore flow and a deep marine layer up to 4000 feet
today. As a result, the marine layer clouds spread
well into the lower coastal slopes this morning, with only
partial clearing across some interior sections today. This
pattern has brought a cooling trend today, with increasing
humidities across the region. While the marine layer depth
is still expected to be rather deep tonight into Wednesday morning,
there will likely be some lowering from today. This
will lead to a slight warming and drying trend across interior
sections, with these trends expected to continue Thursday
into Friday. There will be gusty onshore winds across interior
sections through Wednesday, especially across the Highway
14 corridor from the Santa Clarita Valley through Antelope Valley,
where wind gusts between 25 and 40 mph will be common. Isolated
gusts over 50 mph will be likely across the foothills of
the Antelope Valley.
