FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
215 PM PDT TUE SEP 1 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT WILL SPREAD RAINFALL
INTO THE REGION FROM THE NORTHWEST TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY
MORNING. THEN EXPECT SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS LATER WEDNESDAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE ROTATES THROUGH. COOL AND SHOWERY WEATHER
PERSISTS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK. A WARMING AND
DRYING TREND IS EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND AND POSSIBLY INTO
NEXT WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT CURRENTLY JUST OFF THE S
WASHINGTON AND N OREGON COAST WILL SLOWLY SPREAD ONSHORE
LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...BRINGING LIGHT RAIN
TO THE REGION. THE BEST PRECIPITATION CHANCES WILL BE
OVER NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST AREA...WITH SOME
AREAS IN THE CASCADES AND COAST RANGE. THEN EXPECT
PLENTY OF SHOWERS AROUND THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY AS
AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ROTATES THROUGH THE REGION.
AGAIN EXPECT THE BEST PRECIPITATION CHANCES TO BE
FURTHER NORTH WHERE THE COLDEST AIR ALOFT WILL PROVIDE
THE BEST INSTABILITY. THERE MAY BE A FEW THUNDERSTORMS
AS WELL OVER SW WASHINGTON AND FAR NW OREGON WED
AFTERNOON AND EVENING. COOL AND SHOWERY WEATHER WILL
PERSIST THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AS A BROAD UPPER LEVEL
TROUGH REMAINS OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. HOWEVER...
EXPECT PRECIPITATION TOTALS TO BE QUITE LIGHT DURING
THE LATE WEEK TIME PERIOD. IT APPEARS THAT A WARMING
AND DRYING TREND WILL OCCUR OVER THE WEEKEND AS AN
UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE NE PACIFIC BEGINS TO EXTEND
INTO THE REGION. IT NOW APPEARS THAT THE WARMER AND
DRIER WEATHER MAY EXTEND INTO THE FIRST HALF OF NEXT
WEEK. PYLE
