Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming
National Weather Service Riverton WY
123 PM MDT Thu Aug 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

High pressure will bring drier and warmer weather into the first
part of the weekend. A stray thunderstorm may occur over eastern
portions of Zone 416 through early this evening. Min Relative
humidity will decrease a few percentage points each of the next
couple days. Many lower elevation areas will fall into the teens
Friday and Saturday afternoon. In the short term, breezy to locally
windy conditions will elevate the fire danger across the lower
elevations and foothills into early this evening. The warm
temperatures and low min rh`s will elevate the fire weather concerns
the next couple days but significant winds are not expected Friday
and Saturday. Very good to locally excellent smoke dispersal will
occur each afternoon.

...Rawlins dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...and 289)...

High pressure will bring drier and warmer weather into the first
part of the weekend. A gusty breeze will blow at times into early
this evening. Isolated thunderstorms are possible across eastern and
southern 279 up into 289 into early this evening. Relative humidity
will fall into the teens at times the next couple days. Very good to
locally excellent smoke dispersal will occur each afternoon.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

High pressure will bring drier and warmer weather into the first
part of the weekend. A stray afternoon thunderstorm may occur over
the mountains into early this evening. A gusty breeze will continue
into early this evening in the lee of the mountains and across 289.
Relative humidity will fall into the teens at times into early this
evening and again Friday and Saturday afternoon. As a result, there
will be some elevated fire concerns into this evening. Even Friday
and Saturday will have elevated fire weather concerns just due to
very warm temperatures and low min rh`s. Mixing and smoke dispersal
will range generally from good to very good.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 280...281...
285...289...and 300)...

High pressure will bring drier and warmer weather into the first
part of the weekend. A stray thunderstorm or two is expected across
the area into early this evening. A gusty breeze will continue into
this evening elevating the fire weather concerns when combined with
min rh`s in the teens. Friday and Saturday will also have elevated
fire weather concerns due to min rh`s falling into the teens in the
afternoon combined with very warm temperatures. Mixing and smoke
dispersal will range generally from good to very good.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
...Haines Index is high level Haines both day and night...
