SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK CONTINUES. TODAY OUR AWARENESS WILL
CENTER ON THE ANNUAL TORNADO DRILL AND SEVERE WEATHER CLIMATOLOGY.

DUE TO OUR SOUTHERN LOCATION AND PROXIMITY TO THE GULF OF MEXICO,
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE A THREAT EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR. THERE ARE
TWO PERIODS THOUGH THAT THE MAJORITY OF SEVERE WEATHER OCCURS. FROM
APRIL INTO EARLY JUNE AND AGAIN FROM OCTOBER THROUGH EARLY
DECEMBER...THE REGION IS PARTICULARLY AT RISK FOR TORNADOES AND
OTHER SEVERE STORM THREATS.

TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY...THOUGH THE GREAT
MAJORITY OCCUR DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. JUST
REMEMBER THAT THEY DO OCCUR EVEN AT NIGHT MAKING THE TONE ALERTS
FROM NOAA WEATHER RADIO A TRUE LIFE SAVER.
