...HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FOR THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS FRIDAY
.Yet another upper level storm system is bringing strong winds to
the region. The Guadalupe Mountains will see the highest winds
through this evening before the winds diminish somewhat overnight.
Strong winds are again expected tomorrow afternoon across the
Eddy County Plains-Northern Lea County-Central Lea County-
Southern Lea County-Gaines-Dawson-Andrews-Martin-
Van Horn and Highway 54 Corridor-
Reeves County and Upper Trans Pecos-Loving-Winkler-Ector-Midland-
Ward-Davis/Apache Mountains Area-
Including the cities of Artesia, Carlsbad, Carlsbad Caverns NP,
Tatum, Hobbs, Lovington, Eunice, Jal, Seminole, Lamesa, Andrews,
Stanton, Van Horn, Pecos, Mentone, Kermit, Odessa, Midland,
Monahans, Alpine, and Fort Davis

Winds have begun to diminish across the area this evening, thus
the Wind Advisory has been allowed to expire.

* TIMING...This evening for the warning. Friday morning through
Friday evening for the watch.
* WINDS...West 40 to 50 mph with gusts near 65 mph this evening.
West 35 to 45 mph with gusts near 60 mph Friday.
* IMPACTS...Severe turbulence near the mountains will be
hazardous for light low flying aircraft. These winds could
make driving difficult for high profile vehicles.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of
