...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TODAY FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTH TEXAS...

GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS MORNING AND LAST INTO
THE AFTERNOON ACROSS THE COASTAL BEND AND BRUSH COUNTRY. WINDS
MAY GUST 25 TO 30 MPH FOR A TIME...ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
COASTAL BEND WESTWARD THROUGH JIM WELLS AND DUVAL COUNTIES.
RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS HOWEVER ARE FORECAST TO REMAIN
MODERATE...GENERALLY BETWEEN 35 AND 50 PERCENT. THE MODERATE
RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS SHOULD KEEP FIRE DANGER FROM BECOMING
CRITICAL...BUT WITH VERY DRY FUELS...GUSTY WINDS COULD POSE A
THREAT.

AFFECTED RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES. AVOID
THE USE OF WELDING OR GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR WEEDS...GRASS AND
DRY BRUSH. IN ADDITION...AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL...DRY
GRASS AND WEEDS THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS
ON THE GROUND. REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE
DEPARTMENT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
