URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
1009 AM PDT TUE SEP 16 2014

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM THIS EVENING FOR THE MOUNTAINS
AND ADJACENT FOOTHILLS OF LOS ANGELES...VENTURA...AND SANTA
BARBARA COUNTY MOUNTAINS...

.ANOTHER DAY OF EXTREME HEAT EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
TODAY. THE VERY HOT AND UNSTABLE CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH
MODERATELY LOW HUMIDITIES AND EXTREMELY DRY FUELS WILL BRING THE
POTENTIAL FOR LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRE GROWTH OVER THE LOCAL
MOUNTAINS AND ADJACENT FOOTHILLS IF FIRE IGNITION OCCURS.
INCREASED MID LEVEL MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY WILL ALSO BRING A
SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS TO THE EASTERN SAN GABRIEL
MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING...BRINGING THE ADDED RISK OF ISOLATED DRY LIGHTNING
STRIKES AND GUSTY ERRATIC WINDS. GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS AND LOW
HUMIDITIES WILL ADD TO THE FIRE DANGER ACROSS THE SANTA BARBARA
COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND ADJACENT FOOTHILLS THIS EVENING...WITH GUSTS
RANGING BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE SANTA
YNEZ RANGE. POOR HUMIDITY RECOVERIES AND WARM TEMPERATURES AT
NIGHT WILL ADD TO THE FIRE DANGER ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND
ADJACENT FOOTHILLS.
