HYDROLOGIC STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FAIRBANKS AK
613 PM AKDT SAT JUL 5 2014

...CHENA RIVER IN FAIRBANKS WILL REMAIN HIGH INTO MONDAY...

THE CHENA RIVER IN DOWNTOWN FAIRBANKS IS AT 9.9 FEET AS OF 5PM
SATURDAY. THIS IS THE HIGHEST WATER LEVEL ON THE CHENA IN DOWNTOWN
FAIRBANKS SINCE THE SPRING OF 1992. THIS HAS CAUSED LOW LYING BIKE
PATHS...WALKWAYS AND YARDS ALONG THE RIVER TO BE FLOODED. THE
RIVER IS ONLY A FEW FEET BELOW THE BARNETTE STREET BRIDGE MAKING
IT IMPASSABLE TO BOATS. THERE IS A LARGE AMOUNT OF DEBRIS MOVING
DOWN THE RIVER MAKING BOATING HAZARDOUS.

THE CHENA RIVER IN FAIRBANKS IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN HIGH INTO
MONDAY...AND REMAIN WELL ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH MUCH OF THE UPCOMING
WEEK. THE WATER ON THE CHENA RIVER DOWNTOWN IS NOT EXPECTED TO
RISE ABOVE THE CURRENT LEVEL AND NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED. THERE
COULD BE SIGNIFICANT EROSION OF THE RIVER BANK HOWEVER.
