BASED ON DATA THROUGH 0000 UTC AUGUST 23 2014

LOW CLOUDS ACROSS THE CENTRAL PACIFIC ARE MOVING EAST TO WEST AT 10
TO 20 MPH ACROSS THE AREA. LOW CLOUDS ARE ENTERING THE CENTRAL
PACIFIC AS BROKEN/OVERCAST STRATUS AND STRATOCUMULUS /SC/
BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO SCATTERED SC AND CUMULUS WEST OF 150W. NEAR
THE DATELINE... LOW CLOUDS TURN TOWARD THE NORTH INTO LOW PRESSURE
APPROACHING FROM THE WEST PACIFIC. ALOFT AND AHEAD OF THE
FRONT...THE SUBTROPICAL JET RUNS SOUTHEAST TO NORTHEAST NEAR 30N AND
THE DATELINE. UNDER THE JET... TOWERING CUMULUS AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORMING WITH TOPS REACHING 43 THOUSAND FEET.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE FIRING ALONG THE INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE IN
THE DEEP TROPICS BETWEEN 140W AND 170W FROM 4N TO 13N. AN AREA OF
LOW PRESSURE CENTERED NEAR 14N 147W HAS SOME THUNDERSTORMS
ASSOCIATED WITH IT AND CLOUD TOPS ARE REACHING AS HIGH AS 50
THOUSAND FEET.

NEAR HAWAII...BROKEN TO OVERCAST STABLE LOW CLOUDS ARE MOVING INTO
THE WINDWARD AREAS FROM OAHU TO THE BIG ISLAND. THESE CLOUDS ARE
RIDING THE NORTHEAST TRADE WINDS AND WILL CONTINUE CLOUDY SKIES
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. KAUAI HAS PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. THE
LEEWARD BIG ISLAND IS CLOUDY ALONG THE LOWER SLOPES IN AREAS SOUTH
OF KAILUA-KONA.
