...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
7 PM PST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches,
  with local amounts of 3 to 6 inches in northeast California,
  are expected.

* WHERE...Surprise Valley California, Lassen-Eastern Plumas-
  Eastern Sierra Counties and Northern Washoe County.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 7 PM PST Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions,
  especially for morning travel. Be prepared for reduced
  visibilities at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways. The latest road
conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches,
  with localized amounts up to 10 inches above 7000 feet as well
  as south of Highway 50.

* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 10 PM PST Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions, including
  during the morning commute, and possibly for the evening
  commute. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times. Improved
  road conditions are likely from late morning through afternoon
  below 8000 feet as solar heating melts snow off of most roads.

* WHERE...Mineral and Southern Lyon Counties and Mono County.

* WHEN...From 7 AM Thursday to 4 AM PST Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions, including
  during the evening commute on Thursday. Be prepared for reduced
  visibilities at times.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
  Localized amounts up to 6 inches are possible in the foothills
  and in Douglas County, as well as between the Tahoe-Reno
  Industrial Center and Fernley from lake effect snow off of
  Pyramid Lake.

* WHERE...Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden Area and Western
  Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 10 PM PST Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions Thursday,
  especially during the morning commute, and possibly for the
  evening commute. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.
  Improved road conditions are likely from late morning through
  afternoon as solar heating melts snow off of most roads;
  however, roads that remain wet will rapidly refreeze after
  sunset.
