...FLOOD WATCH IS CANCELLED...

The Flood Watch for Madison, Haywood, and Jackson Counties in
western North Carolina, and for Oconee County in the upstate
of South Carolina has been cancelled. Little in the way of
additional rainfall is expected and stream and river levels will
continue to fall.

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of piedmont North Carolina, including the following
  areas, Alexander, Cabarrus, Catawba, Davie, Iredell,
  Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Union.

* through Tuesday morning

* Additional rounds of heavy showers are expected into tonight,
  perhaps resulting in a localized additional inch of rainfall. On
  top of saturated soils, lingering high water conditions,
  elevated stream levels, flooding will be maintained, if not
  aggravated.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and upstate South Carolina,
  including the following areas, in North Carolina, Avery,
  Buncombe, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, Cleveland,
  Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Gaston, Greater Burke, Greater
  Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Henderson, Lincoln, McDowell
  Mountains, Mitchell, Polk Mountains, Rutherford Mountains,
  Transylvania, and Yancey. In upstate South Carolina,
  Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Chester, Greater Greenville,
  Greater Pickens, Greenville Mountains, Greenwood, Laurens,
  Pickens Mountains, Spartanburg, Union, and York.

* until 8 PM EDT this evening

* Localized heavy rain remains possible into this evening. On top
  of saturated soils, lingering high water conditions, elevated
  stream levels, flooding may redevelop.
