...FLASH FLOOD THREAT REMAINS ACROSS THE EXTREME SOUTHERN
APPALACHIANS THIS AFTERNOON...

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL SLOWLY MOVE EAST TOWARD THE
APPALACHIANS THIS AFTERNOON...TRIGGERING INCREASED COVERAGE OF
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE MOUNTAINS. ANY HEAVY RAINFALL
FROM THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL FALL ON GROUND ALREADY
MOISTENED FROM RAINFALL OVER THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS. FLASH FLOODING
COULD RESULT IN LOCATIONS REPEATEDLY AFFECTED BY SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH EARLY EVENING.

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA HAS BEEN CANCELLED. GROUND CONDITIONS HAVE
DRIED SOMEWHAT FROM TOCCOA TO ELBERTON IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA...AND
ACROSS THE EXTREME WESTERN UPSTATE. ALTHOUGH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE IN THIS AREA THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING...FLASH FLOODING IS NO LONGER EXPECTED.

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA...
  INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA...
  HABERSHAM AND RABUN. IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA...GRAHAM...
  HAYWOOD...MACON...MADISON...NORTHERN JACKSON...SOUTHERN
  JACKSON AND SWAIN.

* UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING

* THE THREAT FOR HEAVY RAIN PRODUCING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
  WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL UP TO 2 INCHES
  WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY HEAVY SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS OVER
  THE EXTREME SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY
  EVENING. THIS RAINFALL WILL AFFECT LOCATIONS WHERE THE GROUND IS
  ALREADY NEARLY SATURATED FROM RECENT RAIN.

* RIVERS AND STREAMS IN THE SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS AND
  THE EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA MOUNTAINS WILL RISE WITH THE
  ANTICIPATED RAINFALL. PERIODS OF HEAVY DOWNPOURS WITH ANY
  THUNDERSTORMS MAY CAUSE RAPID RISES ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS...
  AND ASSOCIATED FLASH FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
