...FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA BLUE RIDGE
EAST TO THE PIEDMONT TODAY...

.A STRONG COLD FRONT COMBINE WITH EXTREMELY HIGH LEVELS OF
MOISTURE WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS OF NORTH
CAROLINA TODAY. STORM TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES...
WITH EVEN LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE BLUE
RIDGE. THIS AMOUNT OF RAINFALL COULD BE ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SOME
FLASH FLOODING IN PARTICULARLY FLOOD PRONE AREAS. THE RAIN IS
EXPECTED TO BEGIN TAPERING OFF THIS AFTERNOON...ENDING BY THIS
EVENING.

  UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN
  NORTH CAROLINA...ALEXANDER...CABARRUS...CATAWBA...CLEVELAND...
  DAVIE...EASTERN MCDOWELL...EASTERN POLK...GASTON...GREATER
  BURKE...GREATER CALDWELL...GREATER RUTHERFORD...IREDELL...
  LINCOLN...MECKLENBURG...ROWAN AND UNION. IN UPSTATE SOUTH
  CAROLINA...CHEROKEE...CHESTER...UNION AND YORK.

* UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING

* A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL SWEEP EAST ACROSS THE
  FOOTHILLS AND PIEDMONT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. THIS LINE HAS A
  HISTORY OF PRODUCING FLASH FLOODING ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE
  MOUNTAINS AND ADJACENT FOOTHILLS. TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WILL
  ACCOMPANY THIS LINE...LIKELY PRODUCING 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN
  WITHIN ONE TO TWO HOURS.

* ENHANCED RAIN RATES ASSOCIATED WITH THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAVY
  RAIN SHOWERS COULD RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING ALONG ESPECIALLY
  FLOOD PRONE CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS. THE WIDESPREAD NATURE OF
  THE HEAVY RAIN WILL ALSO CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON MAIN STEM
  RIVERS.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD

  MOUNTAINS...HENDERSON...MCDOWELL MOUNTAINS...MITCHELL...POLK
  MOUNTAINS...RUTHERFORD MOUNTAINS...TRANSYLVANIA AND YANCEY.

* UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING

* A STRONG COLD FRONT AND UNUSUALLY HIGH LEVELS OF MOISTURE WILL
  RESULT IN WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS
  ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON. STORM
  TOTAL RAINFALL VALUES MAY RANGE FROM 3 TO 6 INCHES BY THE TIME
