has issued a Flood Advisory for the French Broad River...


  The French Broad River At Asheville affecting Buncombe County

Heavy rain moving across the area has saturated the ground and caused
river levels to rise. Additional rainfall will likely cause the river
to crest just below flood stage.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Advisory for a river forecast point means that nuisance
flooding is expected to occur along the river when the river level is
forecast to be just below or at the official flood stage.

Caution is urged when walking near river banks...keep children away
from drainage areas and culverts.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a
* Flood Advisory for
  the French Broad River At Asheville.
* until this evening.
* At 11 AM Wednesday the stage was 6.7 feet.
* Bankfull stage is 6.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.5 feet.
* Forecast...the river will rise to near 8.5 feet by early Thursday
  morning.
 At 8.0 feet...Minor flooding of farmland and industrial areas starts
to occur downstream from the pearson street bridge.
