foothills this afternoon and evening. Any storms that develop will
produce occasional cloud-to-ground lightning and briefly heavy
rainfall.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the mountains of northeast
Georgia, western North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Gulf moisture will continue to stream into the region through
tonight. Southerly upslope flow will produce numerous showers, with
isolated thunderstorms, along the southern Blue Ridge escarpment and
nearby areas. Rainfall totals around 2 inches are expected, with
locally higher amounts certainly possible. This heavy rainfall could
lead to isolated flooding concerns, mainly this evening and overnight
tonight. A few cloud-to-ground lightning strikes are possible.
