This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, piedmont
North Carolina, western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Scattered strong thunderstorms are expected to develop across the
region this afternoon and this evening. The main threat with any
thunderstorms will be cloud to ground lightning strikes, locally
heavy rainfall, and briefly gusty winds. A few of the thunderstorms
are expected to become severe, especially along and southeast of
Interstate 85. Hail as large as quarters will be the main threat with
any severe thunderstorms, but isolated damaging wind gusts will be
possible as well.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms will arrive from the west
across the southern Appalachians overnight. If severe thunderstorms
develop across central and eastern Tennessee late this evening, some
of these could survive into the North Carolina mountains overnight.
Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat with any thunderstorms
arriving from Tennessee overnight.
