...VERY STRONG WINDS EXPECTED ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND IMMEDIATELY
ADJACENT FOOTHILLS TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

.Strong northwest winds are developing across the southern
Appalachians behind a departing cold front. The winds will
continue to strengthen through the overnight hours and then
gradually weaken through late Monday morning. Pockets of damaging
winds are likely, especially along and just east of the eastern
escarpment of the Blue Ridge, and across portions of the upper
French Broad Valley.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST MONDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Locations along and just beneath the eastern Blue
  Ridge escarpment as well as the upper French Broad Valley.

* HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds.

* TIMING...Northwest winds will gradually strengthen through the
  overnight hours, likely peaking before sunrise Monday. The winds
  will gradually diminish through early Monday afternoon.

* WINDS...Northwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
  especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

  Carolina mountains and the North Carolina foothills.

* HAZARDS...Strong winds gusts.

* TIMING...Northwest winds will gradually strengthen through the
  overnight hours, likely peaking before sunrise on Monday. The
  winds will gradually diminish through the late morning hours
  Monday.

* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

  gradually diminish through the late morning hours Monday.

* WINDS...North 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs...trees...and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are expected.
