...VERY STRONG WINDS EXPECTED ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND IMMEDIATELY
ADJACENT FOOTHILLS THIS MORNING...

.Strong northwest winds will continue across the southern
Appalachians early this morning. The winds will gradually weaken
through late morning and early afternoon. Pockets of damaging
winds are likely, especially over the northern mountains of North
Carolina, along and just east of the eastern escarpment of the
Blue Ridge, and across portions of the upper French Broad Valley.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS
AFTERNOON...

* LOCATIONS...Locations along and just beneath the eastern Blue
  Ridge escarpment as well as the upper French Broad Valley.

* HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds.

* TIMING...Strong northwest winds will continue through early
  morning. The winds will gradually diminish through early
  afternoon.

* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
  Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
  especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

  South Carolina mountains, and the North Carolina foothills.

* HAZARDS...Strong wind gusts.

* TIMING...Strong northwest wind gusts will continue through early
  morning. The wind gusts will gradually diminish through early
  afternoon.

* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
  limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

* WINDS...North 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are expected.
