...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN MCDOWELL...NORTHERN
RUTHERFORD...NORTHEASTERN POLK AND SOUTHWESTERN BURKE COUNTIES UNTIL
315 PM EDT...

At 239 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles north of Columbus, or 6 miles southeast of Chimney Rock State
Park, moving northeast at 35 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Marion, Lake James State Park, Lake James, Chimney Rock State Park,
South Mountains State Park, Nebo, Green Hill, Mill Spring, Thermal
City and Pleasant Gardens.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph and dime size hail will be possible in these
areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio and tv
stations, as well as local cable tv outlets for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Carolina.
