...AN AREA OF HEAVY RAIN WILL IMPACT CATAWBA...LINCOLN...GASTON...
WESTERN CHESTER AND YORK COUNTIES UNTIL 500 PM EST...

At 426 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge of an area of
heavy rain along a line extending from 10 miles west of Lincolnton to
8 miles northwest of York to 7 miles southwest of Chester, and moving
northeast at 50 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Gastonia, Rock Hill, Newton, Lincolnton, York, Chester, Hickory, Mt
Holly, St. Stephens and Belmont.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and very heavy rainfall rates up to 2 inches
per hour will be possible in these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as
ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded
roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek
higher ground if threatened by flood waters.
