The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina...
  West central Caldwell County in western North Carolina...
  Western Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 545 PM EDT

* At 454 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast
  of Marion, or over Lake James, moving north at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
           damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Glen Alpine, Lake James State Park, Table Rock, Lake James, Nebo,
  Collettsville, Ashford, Jonas Ridge, Oak Hill and Linville Falls.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Scattered trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned
area. Seek shelter inside an interior room.

Lake James is in the path of this storm. Get away from the water and
seek shelter in an interior room in the nearest shelter. If you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
