...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM EDT
FOR SOUTHEASTERN IREDELL...EASTERN LINCOLN...NORTHWESTERN MECKLENBURG
AND NORTHEASTERN GASTON COUNTIES...

At 623 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 4 miles west of
Huntersville, or 4 miles south of Ramsey Creek Park, moving east at
40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
         damage to trees and power lines.

Locations impacted include...
Huntersville, Northeast Charlotte, Cornelius, Mooresville, Mt Holly,
Davidson, Stanley, Westport, UNC Charlotte and Denver.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Scattered trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned
area. Seek shelter inside an interior room.

This storm is producing frequent and intense lightning. Turn off
electrical appliances. Do not use corded telephones. Do not take a
bath or shower.

The southern part of Lake Norman is in the path of this storm. Get
away from the water and seek shelter in an interior room in the
nearest shelter. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.

This storms is also producing extremely heavy rainfall. Flooding of
drainage ditches and low lying areas may occur. Small streams will
rise rapidly. Do not drive through areas where water is flowing over
the road.
