...ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL WILL DEVELOP OVER THE WESTERN NORTH
CAROLINA MOUNTAINS ON MONDAY...

.A COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH A LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL
SWEEP ACROSS THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS MONDAY MORNING. IN THE WAKE
OF THE FRONT...DEEP MOISTURE AND FORCING WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE
REGION AHEAD OF A MID LEVEL DISTURBANCE. COLD AND MOIST NORTHWEST
WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE TENNESSEE
BORDER COUNTIES THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IN ADDITION...GUSTY
NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BRING MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE
REGION WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM
TO 6 PM EST MONDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED.
THIS WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH
THURSDAY MORNING.

* LOCATIONS...THE SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS
  NEAR THE TENNESSEE BORDER.

* HAZARDS...PERIODS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW THROUGH TOMORROW.
  ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY
  NIGHT. IN ADDITION...NORTHWEST WINDS COMBINED WITH TEMPERATURES
  IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOW TEENS MAY YIELD WIND CHILL VALUES
  BETWEEN MINUS 5 TO MINUS 15 WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MORNING.

* TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP DURING THE PRE DAWN HOURS
  MONDAY AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE REST OF THE DAY. DEEP
  MOISTURE AND STRENGTHENING NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO
  SUPPORT SNOW SHOWERS THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 1 TO 3 INCHES. HIGHER
  AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS ALONG THE
  TENNESSEE BORDER...WHILE ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE
  CONSIDERABLY LIGHTER IN THE VALLEYS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA.
  SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO ACCUMULATE FROM MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH
  WEDNESDAY NIGHT...RESULTING IN AN ADDITIONAL 4 TO 8 INCHES.

* IMPACTS...SNOW AND SNOW PACKED ROADS WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS.
  SNOW ACCUMULATION AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS COULD RESULT IN
  SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES AND DOWNED TREES.

* TEMPERATURES...GENERALLY BELOW FREEZING...WITH LOW TEMPERATURES
  FALLING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MORNINGS.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH.
