THE MOUNTAINS THIS MORNING. WHILE PATCHY FREEZING RAIN WILL BE
POSSIBLE THROUGH DAYBREAK...TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN
FALLING QUICKLY AROUND THAT TIME...ALLOWING FOR A TRANSITION TO
MAINLY SNOW. LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED...WITH SNOW SHOWERS

  ESCARPMENT OF NORTH CAROLINA.

* HAZARDS...LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. ICY SPOTS DEVELOPING DUE TO
  REFREEZING OR PATCHY FREEZING RAIN.

* TIMING...WHILE PATCHY FREEZING RAIN MAY OCCUR EARLY THIS
  MORNING...TEMPERATURE PROFILES WILL QUICKLY BECOME MORE
  FAVORABLE FOR SNOW ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS AROUND
  DAYBREAK. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF BY AROUND NOON.

* ACCUMULATIONS...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES. A
  FEW AREAS COULD ALSO SEE A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICE.

* IMPACTS...ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW WILL MAKE ROADS HAZARDOUS. A FEW
  ICY SPOTS COULD ALSO DEVELOP AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING
  ACROSS THE HIGH ELEVATIONS.

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING TO THE LOWER 30S.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST WINDS INCREASING TO 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP
  TO 40 MPH LATER THIS MORNING.

  MOUNTAINS ABOVE 3500 FEET.

* HAZARDS...LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. ICY SPOTS COULD DEVELOP DUE
  TO REFREEZING.

* TIMING...WITH PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO LINGER OR REDEVELOP
  ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH LATE MORNING...HIGH ELEVATION
  TEMPERATURE PROFILES WILL QUICKLY BECOME MORE FAVORABLE FOR SNOW
  AROUND DAYBREAK. SNOW LEVELS ARE THEN EXPECTED TO DROP TO THE
  VALLEY FLOORS BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES AT
  ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3500 FEET. UP TO AN INCH OF SNOW IS ALSO
  POSSIBLE IN THE FRENCH BROAD VALLEY.

* IMPACTS...ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW WILL MAKE SOME HIGH ELEVATION
  ROADS SLICK AND HAZARDOUS. IN ADDITION...ICY SPOTS COULD DEVELOP
  ON HIGH ELEVATION ROADS AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING.

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING TO THE UPPER 20S ACROSS THE HIGH
  ELEVATIONS BY LATE MORNING.
