.DISCUSSION...

With yesterday`s low pressure system leaving the region eastward,
an inverted ridge of high pressure continues to build into the
area from the northwest. But, the low-level cloud deck remains in
place across all of our CWA, keeping a ceiling of 1000 to 2000
feet for most locations. Will be difficult to climb much above the
freezing level today. Some convective rain showers have developed
across central and southern Montana, reaching our western
Petroleum County. The general thunderstorm outlook from SPC has
that general area alerted mainly south and west of Fergus County.

We expect Petroleum and SW Phillips Counties to remain the
furthest extent of these showers today through tonight with
minimal snow accumulation.

Tomorrow (Saturday), another weak upper-level disturbance through
southern Saskatchewan will support additional snow showers moving
into our CWA from the west. By the time those isolated showers
reach as far as Glasgow by Saturday morning, they will begin to
move and diminish toward the south.

Saturday night through Sunday, expect some semblance of lingering
snowfall in our south. Low impact and light accumulation.

Monday through Wednesday, a very strong and warm ridge of high
pressure will build through our region from the west. High
temperatures will easily reach into the 60s and pushing 70. This
will likely melt any remaining snowpack.

Thursday through next weekend. Models are starting to hint at the
departure of the warm ridge of high pressure to be followed by
another late season snow storm. Details are yet to come, but
several model ensemble members show an impactful accumulating
storm for next weekend. NBM may have initially broadbrushed the
PoPs leading into it: Thursday/Friday. This should get worked out
over the next 3-4 days. Stay tuned.
