.DISCUSSION...
The upper low that brought widespread precipitation over Central
California last weekend is finally exiting the region today.
This is why we are still dealing with low level cloud cover and
cooler temperatures. However, the airmass is forecast to modify
dramatically over the next few days. Afternoon highs today
remain well below normal, but this will not last tomorrow
as the ridge of high pressure builds in across the Golden State.
Highs are forecast to jump nearly 10 degrees tomorrow vs today`s
highs, and then rise several more degrees Wednesday through
Thursday. By Thursday, afternoon highs are projected to be as
much as 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Afternoon highs Friday
through Sunday are forecast to moderate slightly as a pair of
upper lows flatten the ridge over the west coast.

Run-off from the snowpack is not forecast to be
much of an issue at this time either. Afternoon highs in the
valley usually need to be in the 90`s for several days to see
hydrological concerns develop from a melting snowpack, and this
forecast is not calling for that. This ridge pattern is
forecast to be dry through the next 7 days for the entire
forecast area. Anyways, as it pertains to the heat on Thursday,
here are probabilities for afternoon highs reaching or exceeding
85*F for select locations across the San Joaquin Valley:

Merced: 21%
Madera: 21%
Fresno: 71%
Reedley: 16%
Lemoore: 56%
Hanford: 51%
Visalia: 61%
Porterville: 26%
Delano: 46%
Bakersfield: 41%
