FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
311 AM CST MON JAN 16 2017

.DISCUSSION...
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE WEEK WITH
MULTIPLE CHANCES FOR RAIN AS WELL.

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE TOWARDS THE AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND A FEW
ISOLATED SHOWERS MAY FORM AHEAD OF IT AND CLIP NW. THIS WILL INCREASE
WINDS AND WITH GOOD MIXING LEAD TO GOOD DISPERSION VALUES. NUMEROUS
SHOWERS WILL THEN SPREAD FROM WEST TO EAST TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY AS THE
FRONT MOVES THROUGH. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE
FRONT. THE RAIN ON TUESDAY WILL LOWER MIXING HEIGHTS AND CLOUD BASES
BUT GOOD TRANSPORT WINDS WILL STILL SUPPORT GENERALLY GOOD DISPERSION.

A BRIEF BREAK IN THE RAIN IS POSSIBLE ON WEDNESDAY. BUT BEYOND THIS
THE REST OF THE WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND IS EXPECTED TO BE ACTIVE
AND UNSETTLED. A STRONG SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THURSDAY AND COULD
BRING STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TO THE REGION. WE COULD SEE ANOTHER
STRONG SYSTEM MOVE THROUGH THIS WEEKEND BUT UNCERTAINTY IN THE TIMING
OF THE WEEKEND SYSTEM REMAINS HIGH.
